Studio brief 4: Colour scheme decision

Initially I had considered the use of CMYK as colour scheme for the newspaper as it is something that represents all of the printing that as a student you will do on the Graphic Design course. I think it works well, but after re-visiting the research into the colour scheme I decided to take colour swatches from the LCA website as it is bright and vibrant. Figure 1 shows the colour swatch that was taken from the homepage on the website. The colour scheme has two purples, so figures 2 and 3 shows the difference each purple has against the other colours. The slightly muted purple shown in figure 3 was thought to ruin the other colours in the palette as figure 2 clearly shows how the purple can bring out the vibrance of the other colours when paired with them. I asked other people for opinions and it was thought that figure 2 was the best colour palette to make an upbeat newspaper publication whilst also reflecting Leeds College of Art in the colour scheme.
