Studio brief 3: Existing poster research

A series of posters by Neabau drove the beginning stages of the poster design. The series of posters for the 'Production' & 'Research' programme of laborgras, a contemporary Berlin dance collective inspired the development of the poster designs for the exhibition branding.

As a group we had decided on the idea that the 3 triangles within the logo would work in various arrangements on each of the printed publications needed for the exhibition. Inspiration was taken from the Neabau posters, which have the writing in one area across the top and then the shape in the large section underneath. We thought that it could be interesting to apply this style to our concept and potentially have an area in which the triangles could be printed slightly differently on each of the posters.

I applied this visual style to the posters, seeing if it could work with the branding concept that we had developed. The developments started with just the use of one triangle, but it was soon decided that it would work better with all of the colours so that the CMYK concept cold be shown. The last design was the one that as a group we decided was the closes to to how we visualised it to look.
To develop it further, we will need to think of ways in which the idea of screen printing can be further developed, how each poster will look consistent but differ slightly to one another and what information needs to be on the poster.
