Rationale
Our branding is based around the shaping of Leeds through a variety of events that have happened in the past or are still currently taking place. Leeds is home to a vast range of cultures and communities that in turn, have contributed to the development of the city. We wanted to make this our main focus, so decided upon the name ‘Shaped’ to reflect this. The triangle shapes within the logos are inspired by the shape of Leeds Library's roof, the building in which the exhibition will be held. The colour scheme uses CMYK which are the common colours used within traditional print, the way in which all of the prints will be produced for the exhibition. The use of this typeface, Avenir (Black) is due to the ease of legibility as well as the slightly rounded shapes linking to our theme. Textures within the triangles are relating to the buildings within Leeds as the city has a variety of architectural features throughout which means the textures link the city to our branding.
Feedback
- the work is stylised
- a line drawing of the building interiors to show the wayfinding could work well
- typeface with a rounded 'a'?
- shows the different weighting of typeface in the presentation
- look at The Print Project for poster inspiration
- gif which shows the triangles merging and splitting, explaining the colour scheme and process further
- text coloured aligned and then show it shifting slightly?
- place flyers in galleries, exhibitions and shops etc. to target the particular audience
- keep wayfinding simple and use the catalogue to display everyones work
- the wayfinding could work with the catalogue to develop a key for people to find the particular pieces they are looking for
- try printing digitally in stages to see if it has a different effect than if it was printed all at once
- social media would need to be #shapedleeds because #shaped is too common
- make shapes within the instagram page, made up by a countdown to the event
- whilst the exhibition is on, the instagram page an be used to showcase peoples work in the same style as the exhibition branding
- events and dates need to be documented on the publications
