Jungle Se7ens - Promo video

As part of the deliverables I needed to develop a video that the festival team could release when the first bit of information was released to the public about the festival. The video needed to succinctly show what the festival will be as it is not only a music festival, but also a sport event. The video will need to show details such as location and date and then give a feeling of the atmosphere that the festival will offer. The video will also need to be consistent with the branding and think about what the target audience would find trendy as a way of ensuring that they will want to attend the event.

As a lot of the video would be made up of existing footage I started to gather different bits that I could use in the video that would be relevant in order to create and atmosphere and describe what the festival will offer. Below shows a few of the video clips and then screenshots of the other videos that will help to make up the festival release video. I have also used the Adobe Illustrator work so that I can ensure that the branding of the festival is present throughout the video whether that be colour scheme, typography use or the logo.

Video development
I had to learn how to use the Adobe Dynamic link so that I could edit the video in Adobe Premiere Pro, but develop the graphic elements in Adobe After Effects. This allowed me to develop the way in which the text was used in the video - animating it to move with the music etc. The development of the video was done gradually and revised very regularly throughout the process based predominately on feedback from peers and also those within the Festival company. This allowed for the turn around to be extremely quick and the video was completed with two days and a bit of time to then fully refine it once feedback had been received from as many people as possible.

(The changes and process in summary)

The beginning where the words 'Sport & Music' are gradually revealed ensures the upbeat and constantly moving pace that the video requires to reflect the atmosphere at a sport & music festival. The main development for this bit was working out how to use Adobe After Effects to do exactly what I was aiming for.

The main words that flash up in the video are 'sport, soul and social' which have all been partnered with appropriate video content which changed throughout the process as more feedback was received - mainly on the soul bit and what kind of food it was that we wanted to be showing in the video.

The glitching of the branding at the end of the video was developed to grab the attention and make reference to the strobe lighting at the music part at the festival; whilst also ensuring that the video remained on trend for the target audience.

The timing of the video to the music was closely examined so that the music matched the video movement with the change in beats in the music.

The music pauses at the point where the boy is cheering into the camera to add drama and also enhance the atmospheric description. this originally was just layered on top of the song but it works much more effectively with the music being paused and making it a focus.

The ending of the video is of importance as it shows the information about the festival that the target audience will need to see in order to then proceed and buy the tickets. This was made longer as the design process went on so that the audience could fully digest what was being said and then use the web address to access information about tickets etc.

Music
The original song choice was 'When I get there - Big Wild' as we felt that this had the upbeat feel that suited the style of the festival and it was also fairly neutral in terms of music genre, allowing for less limitations when it came to obtaining the headline act for the festival.

At first we were not sure about the copyright of music when used in videos - we researched whether you could use small clips of the songs and that would then mean that you wouldn't need to worry about copyright. The research lead to the finding out that we were not allowed to use this despite have spoke to Big Wild himself - it would cost too much money. To overcome this problem we used a stock song called 'Tropical House Music _ Premium Tropical Music (320  kbps).mp3' which also suited the video style well and gave a general feel for the festival.
