CB - First meeting/brief

I was approached by Fashion designer Chloe Bagge asking to design a logo for her final project. The collection is being showcased at London graduate Fashion Week so needs a logo that can be used on swingers, labels etc.

About the collection
- beauty and imperfections
- skin conditions
- Jenny Saville as inspiration, imperfections, large scale to admire
- stitching based on medical wound stitching
- celebrating flaws

Logo
- modern but organic
- minimal
- handwritten style for the words 'second skin'
- not a computerised handwritten type
- a modern sans serif typeface for her name underneath the main collection names design
- look into the idea of second skin and sewing, maybe a double circle
- look at medical stitching patterns
- produce in black and white so that it can be applied in a variety of contexts and then also laser cut into denim easily
- relevant to this collection, not a personal branding logo

Name
- a second skin or second skin, needs deciding
- Chloe Bagge, Chloe Sabrina Bagge, CB, CSB

Mood board
Chloe started a Pinterest board so that she could easily show me what kind of design style she was envisioning for this logo design. This really helped me because she identified a few examples similar to her board that she did not like despite them being very similar to the design style. It seemed to be the more geometric approaches that she did not fit too well with her concept as it is a much more organic outcome - avoid straight lines and boxes.

The meeting was useful to get a better idea of what her collection is about, learning a lot more about it than I may have known just by looking at it. As part of the next step Chloe will send over some of the concept boards so that I can reference the work that she has produced and ensure that the logo fits well with her design style. I will start by researching into the concept of imperfections etc. and how I can visually make reference to the idea of a second skin. I will need to practice the handwritten lettering which I will do using Procreate on the IPad, starting by tracing over some computerised templates so I can then develop confidence and my own style with it.
