Burnout - Video

A big part of this project is having the ability to communicate to a large audience about phone reliance and the over stimulation and how it is essentially causing millennial burnout. The design work is meant to promote the ability to have downtime when it is very likely that the audience will be feeling a slight sense of guilt that they are not being more productive.

The cinema is a good example of a place that people go to for some downtime and are likely thinking that they should be doing something more productive and also might be 'itching' to reach for their phones to reply to that email or message before the movie starts or even during. I designed this video to pop up just before a film starts - like the no phones in here videos that occur in the cinema - but with a slightly more informative intention and bigger meaning, promoting downtime to be positive.

Feedback

- I like it but I think it should like flash up then the next one then get quicker and quicker until you can’t really read what it says to show the panic and pressure of them actions

- Make a little shorter to ensure engagement

Further feedback

- add noise
- not music, sound effects such as typing would work well

3 seconds of words vs. 4 seconds of millennial burnout typing ... more words
- words could be repeated because they flick up so fast that it is hard to read them anyway
- millennial burnout typed out and then prioritise downtime on its own
- put switch off before the millennial burnout bit and leave the audience something to think about
- ticking noise for the words changing (wheel of fortune)

- developed video before sound was added
- increased the amount of productive activities that it flicks through all very short as it goes through
- there is a slight glitch at the end where it changes from typing out millennial burnout to talking about how downtime is good, this can be changed by bringing the second bit of text in a little later and just having the plain colour background for a bit longer

Development before sound was added ...
