phone reliant, body posture
This first idea is based on
the idea that the millennial generation are very phone reliant - we see it as a
means of productivity, the inability to be bored and the reliance that we are
constantly connected. This typeface design takes the idea that when we look at
our phone, our head is at a 15degree tilt - constantly putting pressure on our
spines and essentially our mental health.
The initial explorations show
the way in which angles could be used in the typeface and how the proportion of
a head could be a part of the manipulation. The exploration then looked at how
the 15-degree element could be introduced in a subtler sense, looking at the
way in which the type was placed on the page, or the use of a simple suggestive
line. This initial idea is positive in the sense that the message is subtle,
but also it might not be obvious enough as to what message is trying to be
spread.
posture when looking at phone: 15degrees
Name : -15, 15degrees, 15, down 15, 15 down
Development - tilting at the neck of the letter (typography anatomy) - head proportion of the human body
To take this to the next stage of development and create a rule that would ensure consistency I took the 15 degree line and placed it at the point where the letter makes contact with the baseline. this will allow for enough variation within the typeface, but also ensures that there is consistency across all of the letters.
