Food Innovation - Pitch

Wednesday 21st November 2018

Misha and I travelled over to Newark Innovation Centre to have a meeting with the Food Innovation company we are working for to help them pitch to a rotarian about the ways in which the can help push the project and get funding for the ‘social good’ side of the concept.

The meeting started by us giving the pitch which we had prepared, Misha discussing the strategies and aims behind all of the idea and then I spoke more about the design decisions and how on a social media platform the different visualisations could be developed to communicate exactly what the purpose of the social community is. The facebook group is to be developed in order to support farmers in the production and storage of crops to reduce waste through a social community and resource centre via smartphone technology. The idea is to have a facebook group with a bank of easy to interpret information about the different technologies that could be used throughout the whole process. It is the knowledge about these technologies that the farmers are missing and unfortunately the result is that they are reducing the profits that they could be making.

Summary

Website vs. Facebook - Facebook is more popular in India than other countries so will be a platform that more people will be able to access and understand.

India more than US people on facebook.

1. Identification of the big need in Maharashtra: focus on two areas (ex. wastes)
2. Selection of small-scale tech: "Game changers" for community
3. Facebook page architecture: Visualisation, pin post, identity.
4. Prospects: Ambassadors, partners, facebook groups inventory,
5. Anticipate trips: Deliverables for February / March 2019
