Exhibition - Sourcing the fabric

We initially started looking online as to where to purchase material. We knew that we wanted a shiny, metallic gold material which would drape easily over a person, and show the contortions. We initially looked online at sellers and shops within Leeds.

We found some material, shown in Figure 1, but found that the shipping would take 3-6 working days meaning it would be very unlikely to arrive in time for our photo shoot. Therefore, we felt that finding the material in a shop in Leeds would be more suitable as we could also see what it looked like and if it would be suitable. Fabworks sold a gold material, shown in Figure 2, which is located a 30-minute drive from Leeds, we liked this material but felt it was too pale so chose to keep looking before visiting the store.

We went to Kirkstall markets where we visited B&M Fabrics, shown in Figures 3-4. We found a gold material there, £5 per meter, but felt that this was too dull for what we were looking for, as we wanted something which represented foil. We went into the market and found the material shown in Figure 5 for £2 per meter which we felt suited our need better. We purchased 3 meters of this after testing it draped over me to see if it would fit.
