Exhibition - Brainstorming

Team:
Emma Shuffleton
Charlotte Price
Emma Blackman

After the briefing we had out first group meeting to brainstorm ideas and try to finalise a concept to go with because the turn around time for this project is very short and as much time as possible should be spent on the designing and bringing it all together.

Ideas:

Scale? Making small ideas big
Representing all of the courses

Gold - Subtle
Bronze, silver gold - achievements?
Leeds Arts University as gold standard
Image based - Gold spray paint?
Photograph gold things - no gold digital or foiling as may look tacky or increase the budget too much
Represents the new building of the uni

Easel spray painted gold could be part of the wayfinding, holding the signs?

Decision:
We decided that the gold idea was our strongest and most relevant to the university, with a lot of ideas on how to make the imagery for it eye catching. We thought that all the work we produce at LAU is done to a 'gold' standard and it is recognised as a good art school within the creative industry.

We wanted to think of an item that would represent each course in the uni and then maybe bring it all together hanging them from wire or making a big sculpture. Somehow, we needed a collective image.

Initial ideas of objects:
Graphic Design – Spray paint MacBook case gold
Fine Art – Paint brush, Mini Mannequin?
Photography – Roll of film/lens mug/disposable camera
Creative Advertising – sketchbook (but maybe it won't stand out if sprayed gold)
Printed Textiles/Surface Pattern – Screen printing silk screen
Fashion Design – Coat hanger
Fashion Photography – Mannequin or hang the film on a hanger
Vis Com – Wax stamp
Animation – Glasses
Illustration – Pencil

Research to continue with:
Previous uni exhibition branding
Other exhibition/uni branding
Concept research
Materials sourcing
