3:30 - 9pm we hired out a photography studio so that we could get the images that we had planned as part of the concept. Megan Banner from Fashion Photography helped us to set up the studio and then take the photos so that we could get the best outcomes that we could. I t was really interesting working with her because her course Fashion Photography allowed for her to know how to direct the photoshoot to make the outcomes better and more interesting.
We each had the gold material placed over us to create the illusion that we were artwork waiting to be shown off. We found that with a bit of movement such as swaying the best images were created as they looked the most natural. We initial started with a white background and two lights, but to light the background more to keep a consistent colour we added an extra two lights so that the background could also be lit.
We experimented with more than one model under the sheet and thought that this created some dynamic photos and created variations between the shots. We also tried to add props into the photoshoot such as a belt or backpack, but this really drew too much attention away from the concept.
In order to make the photos look more like artwork waiting to be revealed, we had the model sit on a plinth/podium representing those that would be found in a gallery. We think this added to the concept of students being the big reveal like the artwork in a museum. Once we had developed the desired style on the white background, we started to use the black background and really liked the contrast that this created.
We also tried to wet the fabric at the end as an experiment, but this changed the appearance of it so will not be used as a final photo.
