Micro-genre: Final developments

Now that the final colour palette had been decided upon I needed to finalise the individual presentation for each of the prints. 

I placed each of the illustrations on a pale pink background to ensure that the Japanese aesthetic was achieved. I experimented with the sizing of the illustrations to see which worked better in terms of composition and considering the fact that these are being designed for a gallery exhibition. 

Instead of the word food, it seemed more appropriate to use the word 'Noise' but needed to present it in a more culturally appropriate way. The traditional way to write in Japan is to write from top to bottom, right to left. This is why the word has been placed where it is. I decided to repeat the word a number of times in random sizes and with random alignments to try to represent the ways in which the music of Japanoise appears to the listeners.

Feedback 

I sent the designs to a group of people in the studio on facebook to try and get some opinions on whether or not they were working and if visually there were any improvements that could be made.

In response to this feedback, I needed to enhance the colours of the illustrations against the background and make their placement on the artboard more central by slightly changing the A4 format. 

Final developments:

The colours on the illustration have all had the vibrancy slight enhanced and overall the contrast between them all has been increased slightly so that each of the individual elements stands out more and visually it appears less 'washed out'. This has worked much better and to further the overall appearance and presentation of the final illustrations I have used a different colour for each of the backgrounds because when considering it will be in a gallery space, this will look more interesting than having them all the same coloured background. 

One final change i made to the final illustrations was the type on them was removed. It was proven that by having a caption it added clarity which is not something that the illustrations were trying to capture. The addition of the word noise was taking another element of Japanoise and trying to overcomplicate the actual message that is being explored. The removal of the caption has improved clarity and emphasised the focus back to the illustration and how they represent the North American influence on Japan.
