Morpher: Brief

Also as part of the responsive module, I worked with Morpher as my client to re-design their identity.

I was sent a brief from a band in Leeds asking for a new identity to be created that they can apply to all promotional materials, social media platforms and just generally help them build their individual identity so that it starts to be recognised.

About:
‘Born in Leeds, fusing acoustic instruments with electronic effects, they blend their Jazz upbringing with hints of Drum and Bass, Hip-Hop and electronic music.
Their live performance is an unforgettable experience where you will be exposed to unheard sounds and grooves that are guaranteed to blow your ears off.
Made up of Jasper Cole on Saxophones and wind synthesisers, Frazer Kerslake on electric bass and Chris Mcintyre on hybrid acoustic/electric Drums. They draw their influences from artists such as Kamasi Washington, Shabaka Hutchins, Nerve, Thundercat, badbadnotgood, GoGo Penguin, Avishai Cohen Trio, Tigran Hamasyan, J Dilla and Kendrick Lamar.’

Target audience:
  • Jazz enthusiasts
  • Students
  • Producers
  • Alternative music fans

The tone of voice:
  • On trend
  • Legitimate, but playful
  • Chatty, engaging
  • Space-related

Deliverables:
  • Logo
  • Colour scheme
  • Merchandise proposals
  • Photoshoot
  • Animated Facebook banner
Deadline:
As the band are part of the Astro-Beat Collective event, the design work for their band will need to be completed alongside the release of the events promotional material so that as a band they can have the new logo on the poster. They decided that after this small part, the main rebrand will be published at the end of March/beginning of April so that social media presence can be built up and as a band, they can begin intense promotion ready for the lineup of summer gigs they will be part of. It is also in agreement that now that this has started, I will work alongside the band as their designer continuously into the future.
