Design for Screen - Critical Feedback

It was initial idea 3 that was chosen as the best approach to the layout, so this was the wireframe that was analysed and given feedback on in the critical feedback session. The session allowed me to learn a few new things about Adobe Xd (the software I will be designing on) and also which features of the app need to be included and the ones that were considered unnecessary to the concept.

- All of the features would work well, but the focus needs to be on the purpose of the app which is to be able to quickly keep in the 'creative loop' as you have a morning coffee, are sat around or in replacement of scrolling through social media constantly.
- Do not mix too many concepts, keep referring back to the problem
- Rather than linking the articles from the personalised timeline, have them all presented there with enough information to engage the reader in the story but also condensing it so much that it won't take them long to understand what it is about. This will then allow them to add to their favourites/read later archive so that when they have more time they can access the full article on the original website that it was sourced from.
- Near to each of the articles on the timeline, there will be a like button and an average/estimated read time if they were to open it up and access the full article. The website called 'Medium'
- On the timeline page, there should be an image, article title and then by tapping the image it just opens up the condensed article (a small paragraph/few sentences) and another single tap closes it back up to return the simple timeline layout for them to continue scrolling through
- The location feature was thought to be worth developing and including as part of the app. The location feature should allow you to type in the city that you are in or want to find out about and then list all of the local studios, art galleries and creative events that are happening that day, upcoming week, month, year etc. There will then be an option to allow the user to add the event to their calendar or link them to the gallery and studios websites.
- As the app is about keeping up with the creative news and not necessarily just for inspiration, it was thought that the artist profile feature was not necessary to include. There are already a lot of different apps and websites for creatives to find inspiration, but this app focuses on making it easy to read articles from a diverse selection of sources. It will be the information that the articles provide and new insights explored that will provide the inspiration, motivation and wider understanding of the current creative world.
- The archive library will appear in a grid format of just the images and then the clicking on them leads to the expansion to the full articles or articular studios that have been liked/saved for later.
- As the app is aimed at creative individuals, the consistency and visuals need to be well thought out and kept very 'on trend'. The idea to have it fairly minimal and based on the look of most creative magazines and websites is something that was agreed on, with the colour scheme developing naturally as the design becomes more finalised.
- It was also pointed out that a login screen would need to be designed each time the app is opened, or at the beginning of the first use so that the user can ensure that their personalised content can be accessed on any device that they have the app installed on.
